11:59 pm - Wanted: one ark
This past month has been one of the soggiest on record -- there was a news report on the 28th that of the past 28 days, 21 had been wet. It's rained since then, including a torrential downpour earlier this evening, so if we haven't broken the old record of 10.27 inches set in 2003, we've come very close -- the NY Times had a story in today's paper that rain for the month as of this morning in Central Park was 10.06 inches, and that was before the afore-mentioned cloudburst, which I presume passed through the park and not just my neighborhood. With that included, I wouldn't be surprised if we had beaten the old record.

Sogginess is supposed to continue, at least for the near future. Rain is in the forecast for each of the next three days. I've lost most of the nursery seedlings from this weather that I had bought just a few weeks back, from root-rot. Even the watercress has died now -- and that plant loves wet soil!

Anyone have a spare ark I could use?

My garden, on the other hand, is dying of thirst. Clearly the weather gods haven't compared notes before they started acting out!
