|09:35 pm - Experienced UnHighPriestess now available for (virtual) handfastings|
I just performed my first handfasting today in Second Life. I've never done a real-life one, since there are a number of hoops to jump through to make it legally valid, although I've attended several. Legal validity not being an issue in the virtual marriage of Second Life, this gave me the opportunity to do something I'd love to do in real life.
The ceremony was mostly Celtic Reconstructionist, with a few Wiccan elements, with invocations to Aengus and Caer. The bride and groom were quite happy with the ritual and I enjoyed doing it, although the limitations of Second Life made a few things rather tricky. (Doing the actual tying of ribbons for the handfasting had to be done as an "emote" instead of using an animation, for example.)
