Spent a pleasant evening with couragebear last night and he introduced me to Neil Gaiman's works, specifically "Stardust". I started reading it last night and he was kind enough to allow me to borrow it when I returned home.

I'd heard a lot from various folks about Mr. Gaiman's works, mainly "Sandman" and "American Gods", and I'd been curious about him for a while, although I'd never read any of his novels, apart from a short exerpt from "American Gods", which had interested me.

So far I'm about half-way through "Stardust" and am enjoying it immensely. :)

I've begun to understand why so many people rave about his writing -- I definitely plan on reading more of his works. Soon -- very soon . . .

I finished the book a few hours ago -- it was just simply lovely!!!

:)

I'd love to see the theatrical version you mention, but I think a movie of this book would really be FANTASTIC!!!

If you look at my "friends" list (I don't know if you have) there's one girl named elke_tanzer who has likes alot of fan fiction. One of my favorites has orlando bloom swordfighting that says "My fandom practices 6 hours a day" or something like that.

Recently she's been using one that says, "My fandom knows where the entwives went."

I thought you'd appreciate that.

As for Neil...YES YES YES. Stardust is wonderful, as is everything else he's written. Even Coraline, which is really for children, has a wonderfully bizarre feel to it that's just creepy.

Love him love him love him. He's got a blog too, somewhere.

Yes I do! Most amusing! I might even steal that icon . . . ;)

You can add a feed of his blog to your friends list -- just add officialgaiman.

I really liked how "Stardust" had that fairytale-for-adults atmosphere. It reminded me a lot of a few favorite books from my childhood, like "The Search for Delicious" by Natalie Babbitt and "The Haunted Mountain" by Molly Hunter.
