Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow today and therefore supposedly we will have an early spring. I'd be glad if that ends up happening, since I'm not keen on the cold and from now until this coming Thursday the daytime highs will be hard-pressed to reach the mid-20s, with nighttime temperatures in the low teens and single digits, not counting windchill. And yes, there will be wind -- LOTS of it, according to the weather reports. I therefore did a bunch of grocery shopping today so I won't have to stick my nose outside the door for a few days.

Happy Candlemas! (Or Imbolg, if you prefer to use the Celtic names.)

Helllooooooo Global Warming.

Considering that the current cold snap seems to be the break in the pattern this winter. The howling winds are a symptom as well, as the higher ambient temperature add energy to weather systems worldwide. See-sawing temperature and increased airmass movements among the results.

Well at least my lilacs will be happy with this weather -- they like the cold and have a chilling requirement if they are to bloom properly in the spring. I'm sure they'll have it fulfilled with the current temperatures.

Sitting here new Toledo, OH and shivering in my work boots, I'm getting exactly that as well. Single digit and lower temps accompanied by plenty of wind.

Bah! I hate this bitter cold, too. But at the rate we're going, we'll get through the entire Winter without actually being able to film our outdoor Winter shots! Where's the @#$%^! SNOW?!!!

I'm really surprised you haven't gotten much in the way of snow in your area. That's just . . . weird . . .

Winter's not over though, so maybe you still might get hit with some. I personally hope to avoid it, since I have to shovel the darn stuff. :P
