|11:59 pm - NaNoWriMo loser|
Well, here it is, the end of NaNoWriMo 2006 and I didn't win.
First off, I'd like to congratulate innerslytherin, who did. Yay for her!!! :D

As for me, well, I started late, more than halfway through the month, so I didn't really expect to get to 50,000 words. I actually wrote on only 8 days of the 14 available to me before the month of November and NaNoWriMo ended, due to the Thanksgiving holiday and a minor strike by my muse.
In the end I managed to get out a little over 12,500 words, or about 25% of the total desired wordcount. (My final wordcount was 12,525 according to MS Word, but the NaNoWriMo wordcount validator counted me as having 12,502 words. Good enough for horseshoes and hand grenades, at any rate.)
If you look at my NaNoWriMo writing progress report, I seem to have an averate word rate of about 2000 words per day on the days I do write, give or take about a few hundred to a thousand either way. (The days I was only around 400-500 words were when I started writing late, near midnight. I am nocturnal, after all . . . ) So at least I now know my writing pace, for the future, should that information ever become important again.
Even though I didn't finish the story yet, I do plan on continuing it, most likely in fits and starts. The good thing about having done NaNoWriMo this year is that I finally started to write my Potterverse "Death Eaters are people too!" stories out instead of letting them sit and ferment in my brain. Since some parts of what I wrote can stand on their own, apart from the larger story, that also means I can
inflict show them off here for the amusement of those who read my LiveJournal -- and hopefully their enjoyment as well.
beware! be prepared to see some stories by me here soon. They'll be up as soon as I can think of decent titles, since "A Death Eater Parent-Teacher Conference" doesn't strike me as a terribly gripping title. If you want to read some of my writing in the meanwhile, you can read the excerpt of my novel that I have on my NaNoWriMo author page.
